Description
The project Scrap the Food Waste intends to create a multi-dimensional and multi-level approach to the prevention, management and eradication of the food waste produced by the consumers in the households across Italy. Throughout the collaboration of multistakeholder consortium composed by Academia (UNISG University), National Association of Consumers (UNC), innovative startup striving for sustainability (AWorld s.r.l. S.B.) and IS Media, we intend to study, act and inform on the aspects of the food waste produced by consumers in households conditions. This project is specifically designed to motivate, support and inform users across Italy about the benefits of the behavioral change, specifically to the choices that regard the way they plan, purchase, store, prepare and consume food. The strength of the consortium is the availability of a large number of users who will be reached, informed and brought onboard of the project. Alone, IS Media accounts for over 6 M online users reached through the content creation on 8 social media platforms, starting from Instagram where we account for 1.5M of followers. Unione Nazionale Consumatori (UNC) as national association which is specifically addressing the needs of the italian consumers, will engage its target users throughout its online platforms, its website and the newsletter. UNISG – Università degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo – Bra, as one of the most prestigious educational institutions focusing on food sciences will be contributing to the methodology and assessment study of the project. AWorld s.r.l. SB, an innovative startup, supported by the United Nations that that operates according to the SDGs sustainability and waste reduction principles. The active engagement of the target of the project campaigns will be taking place on their app, which is free and easy to access to the participants in the project.
This project will be especially dedicated to the youngest generations, the so called Generation Z. GenZ and Millennials (young population between 18 and 35 years old) are also the ones who are more sensible regarding our future, and the future of our planet.
