Students from 21 nationalities arriving in Pollenzo
Pollenzo is welcoming 123 new students of 21 different nationalities: 75 freshmen of the Undergraduate Degree in Gastronomic Sciences and Cultures, 32 of the Graduate degree course in Food Innovation & Management and 16 new students of the Master in Agroecology and Food Sovereignty.
The newcomers represent a total of 21 nations: Italy, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Norway, Holland, Poland, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, United States, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Uganda, Venezuela.
These young students hailing from all over the world are beginning their Pollenzo experience during the week of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto which is held in Turin: a significant moment that focuses on urgent and challenging issues for new generations, and beyond.
Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is dedicated to food politics, sustainable agriculture and the environment: this edition focus is about food as an effective and democratic political tool for implementing regeneration. A fil rouge that combines the philosophy of the University of Pollenzo with the themes that characterize the activity of Slow Food.
The Orientation Week in Pollenzo begins on Monday 19 September with a welcome by Rector Bartolomeo Biolatti and UNISG President Carlo Petrini, followed by an introduction to the Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto program by Slow Food representatives.
On Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 September University’s faculty and staff will meet the students to introduce study programs, research and academic projects, various didactic activities, students services and facilities, student associations, in addition to the guided tour of the UNISG headquarters and the educational gardens: a full immersion in everything connected to student life in Pollenzo and Bra.
Lessons will begin on September 27: just after the closing of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, to allow future gastronomes to participate in the great international event organized by Slow Food.
